10.0 Appendix D- Safety System Tests

Frequency of test: THIS TEST SHOULD BE PERFORMED AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH WORK-
DAY AND AFTER EACH KNIFE CHANGE.
Test Procedure:
1.
CAUTION:
ONLY ONE PERSON should perform this test AT A TIME.
2. Disconnect the machine from the wall outlet.
3. Re-connect the machine to the wall outlet.
4. Place a 5/8” (15.9 mm) thick piece of material underneath the center of the clear cover at
the front edge of the front table. Allow the hood to rest on the 5/8” thick material.
5. Attempt to cycle the machine. The machine should cycle a cut.
6. Place an 11/16” (17.5 mm) thick piece of material underneath the center of the clear
cover at the front edge of the front table.
7. Lift the hood all the way up, then bring it down to rest on the 11/16” thick material.
8. Attempt to cycle the machine.
•
If the knife and clamp fail to cycle, then the machine passes the safety system test.
•
If the knife and clamp cycle, then the machine fails the safety system test.
If the machine fails the safety system test, DO NOT USE the machine. Qualified personnel should
adjust the hood switch before continued operation of the machine.
