5.6.1.  SURGISON 2 surgical detartarer device

The Surgison 2 handpiece is intended exclusively for surgical bone ope-
rations in the odontoiatric fi eld. Any other use can cause serious injury to 
the patient and the damage or breakage of the instrument.

Usage instructions.

 CAUTION!

• Ordinary water from the mains must NOT be used for cooling the 

operational fi eld. Make sure the cooling liquid used is of a suitable 
sterile type.

•  The SURGISON 2 handpiece must only be used with the bits supplied 

with the instrument or other bits supplied by CASTELLINI S.p.A.

• Do not change the shape of the bit
• The instrument is supplied in a non-sterile state.

Use.

• 

Operational times: 

continuous operation.

• Put the instrument in the working position. The system automatically 

detects the presence of a SURGISON 2 handpiece and displays the 
relative menu. 

•  The maximum power generated can be changed by pressing the INCRE-

ASE and/or DECREASE buttons

 NOTE:  with the rapid selection buttons it is possible to automatically 

set the following values:
-  MAX button: 100% power
-  MED button: 50% power
-  MIN button: 25% power

• With the instrument in the working position, it is possible to choose two 

different operational modes by pressing the MENU button: 
1) NORMAL (see paragraph 5.6.1.1.):

- The bit vibrates subjected to a continuous (not modulated) power the 

amplitude of which depends on the set value of the power.

2) BOOST (see paragraph 5.6.1.2):

- in addition to the ultrasonic vibration of the bit, a modulation in the 

amplitude of the generated power (approx. +40% of the set power) is 
performed. The modulation creates a percussion effect on the bone 
thereby making incision easier.

-  three different modulation times can be set depending on the thickness 

of the bone tissue to be treated.

-  There are 3 separate working programs.

• By pressing the 

 button for a longer time (at least two seconds), it is 

possible to modify the amount of physiological solution supplied by the 
peristaltic pump (see paragraph 5.10).

• To start up the instrument press the foot control  (see paragraph 5.2).

5.6.1.1.  Normal operational mode

The bit vibrates subject to a continuous power, the amplitude of which depends on the power value set.

• When the right-hand multifunction button (   ) is pressed, the submenu is 

accessed to change the following operational settings: 

  Power variation mode

  Press the INCREASE and/or DECREASE buttons to select the power 

variation mode: 
- icon 

:  linear variation, proportional to the movement of the foot 

control lever,

- icon 

:  ON/OFF variation that entails the supply of maximum power 

set on the activation of the foot control lever.  

 To confi rm the settings selected you just need to leave this sub menu 

pressing the ESC multifunction button.
