This appendix contains important notices about the FaxPress Premier FCC and Telephone
Company compliance, Ringer Equivalency Number, Industry Canada information, as well
as safety warning messages and considerations.
FCC Part 15 Warning
The FaxPress Premier USA units generate, use, and can radiate radio frequency energy
and, if not installed and used in accordance with this manual, may cause interference to
radio communications. These models have been type tested and found to comply with the
limits for a Class A computing device pursuant to Subpart J of Part 15 of FCC Rules, which
are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference when operated in
a commercial environment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to
cause interference in which case the user, at his own expense, will be required to take
whatever measures may be required to correct the interference.
FCC Part 68 Information
The FaxPress Premier USA complies with Part 68 of the FCC Rules. An FCC Part 68 label is
located on each of the FaxPress Premier modem boards. Castelle FaxPress products com-
ply with Part 68 of the FCC Rules.
The FaxPress Premier contains an analog fax board. The Part 68 label on the analog fax
board contains the FCC Registration Number (EBZUSA-34731-FB-E) and the Ringer Equiv-
alence Number (0.77.)
The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is useful in determining the quantity of devices you
may connect to your telephone line and still have all of those devices ring when your tele-
phone number is called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices con-
nected to one line should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices you
may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your local tele-
phone company to determine the maximum REN for your calling area.
Connection of a FaxPress Premier USA unit to the telephone network should be made by
using standard modular telephone jacks, type RJ11. The plug and/or jacks used must com-
ply with FCC Part 68 rules.
Japan Telecommunication Compliance
The FaxPress Premier Japan models contains Intel Analog fax board(s) for Japan. The Intel
Analog fax board for Japan complies with the Japanese telecommunication J.A.T.E. stan-
dard with the approval number A01-0936JP.
Rights of the Telephone Company
If this telephone equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone compa-
ny will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required.
But if advance notice isn’t practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as
soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC.
