PROPULSION
SECTION 5
4. Turn the engine battery and “house” battery bank master disconnect switches
to the “ON” position.
5. On the Safety Breaker Panel, switch the Auto Bilge Pump, Electric Shift
- Port and Starboard, Main - One, and Main - Two circuit breakers “ON.”
Also switch “ON” any other circuit breakers for equipment you may need.
6. On the DC Control Center, switch the DC Main circuit breaker “ON,” then
switch the four Bilge Blower circuit breakers “ON.”
Also switch “ON” any other circuit breakers for equipment you may need.
7. Verify that all safety gear is onboard and in proper operating condition.
Check items such as the navigation lights, VHF radio, depth sounder, etc.
Make sure your boat carries all safety equipment required by Federal, State,
and local regulations.
8. Verify that you have an adequate supply of fresh water.
9. Check the level of waste in the waste tanks. Empty them if necessary. Refer to
Section 4- Emptying the Waste Tanks.
10. Disconnect and store the shore power cord(s) and shore water hose.
Starting the Engines
1. Open the cooling system seacocks for both engines.
2. Move the shift/throttle levers to neutral.
3. For electronic controls, a three-position switch located on the helm lets you
choose one of three engine idle settings. Select the desired setting.
4. Select the engine you wish to start first. NEVER start both engines at the
same time.
The ignition switch is spring activated. Release the key as soon as the
engine starts. Failure to do so may damage the starter.
If the engine does not start within 10 seconds, release the key, then
try starting the engine again. Do not hold the ignition key in the START
position for more than 10 seconds.
5. Place one hand on the shift/throttle lever of the engine you are starting. With
the other hand, turn the ignition key.
The oil pressure alarm sounds for the first few seconds after the engine has
started. This is normal. The alarm is silenced as soon as the oil pressure
increases to within the normal operating range.
If the engine is cold when it starts, it may run rough. Advance its throttle
lever slightly to keep it running.
NOTE:
The electronic controls system has a shift cancel feature that allows you to
advance the throttle without engaging the shift. Refer to the OEM information for
details on this feature.
