AC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
SECTION 3
6. Open the water/exhaust seacock. This seacock is located just forward of the
generator on the boat’s centerline.
7. Switch the four Bilge Blower circuit breakers on the DC Control Center
“ON.”
8. Turn the bilge blowers “ON” using the blower switch on the DC Control
Center.
The generator STOP/START switch is spring activated. Release the
switch from its “START” position as soon as the generator starts. If you
continue to hold the switch in its “START” position after the generator
starts, you may damage the starter.
While you are attempting to start the generator, never hold the STOP/
START switch in the “START” position for more than 10 seconds.
9. A spring-loaded generator STOP/START switch is located at the top left
of the DC Control Center. Push the switch to the “START” position and
hold it there until the generator starts. Release the switch when the generator
starts.
If the generator does not start within 10 seconds, release the STOP/START
switch, wait 1 minute, then try to start the generator again.
10. When the generator is running smoothly, switch the upper and lower (if
your boat has the optional air conditioning system) Generator circuit breaker
groups on the AC Control Center “ON.” This connects the generator to the
boat’s AC electrical system. AC components and receptacles can now be used
in the same manner as when the boat is connected to a shore power source.
11. To turn the generator “OFF,” push the STOP/START switch to the “STOP”
position. If you do not intend to use the generator again for at least a few
days, turn the generator battery master disconnect switch to the “OFF”
position.
12. To change the boat’s AC power source from the generator to a shore power
source, switch the Generator circuit breaker group(s) on the AC Control
Center “OFF.” Then, connect to a shore power source as described earlier in
this section.
Do not inhale generator exhaust. Generator exhaust contains carbon
monoxide, a poisonous gas. Refer to Section 1 - Carbon Monoxide
Warnings for more information on engine exhaust and carbon monoxide.
