Check hydraulic oil level daily. This
Carlton stump grinder is equipped with a
gauge that shows the level of oil and the
temperature of the oil. When filling the
tank with oil, the window of the gauge
will also fill with oil, as the level gets
higher in the tank. Never fill the oil tank
above the BLACK line at the top of the
gauge. Do not run the machine with the
oil level below the RED line at the
bottom of the gauge.

The machine is equipped with Citgo
AW32 hydraulic oil at the time of
manufacture. Use the same or
equivalent.
•
For a new machine, change the hydraulic
oil filter when the stump grinder has
been operating for 10 hours. Replace
with the same type of in-tank filter
element supplied originally, available
through Carlton or Carlton dealers.
From this point on, change the filter
every 200 hours of operation.
•
Change hydraulic oil every 500 hours of
operation or at least once a year
depending on use. Flush the hydraulic
tank when changing the hydraulic oil.
Replace oil if it has a burnt odor or if it
is contaminated. Replace oil if the
stump grinder has been stored for a long
period of time (all winter).
•
Drain the hydraulic tank using the drain
plug located on the bottom of the tank.
Dispose of used oil according to state
regulations.

Check setscrews in Jackshaft Bearings
and Cutter Wheel Bearings for tightness
weekly . Remove the jackshaft bearing
cover to access the jackshaft bearing
collar setscrew.
