2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Fastening the water circuit
The pumping unit is designed for wall-mounting inside a closed
equipment compartment on the OEM’s air handling unit. Alternatively, it
can be positioned on the floor of the equipment compartment. Fig. 1.a
shows the drilling template. The unit is easy to lift, using the folds on the
sheet metal at the top of the cabinet.
Important
: do not exert load on the internal components when
lifting the unit.
KEC should be positioned so as to guarantee:
•
access to the internal parts;
•
connection of the water lines: feedwater, drain and outlet;
•
power and control connections.
Allow the following clearances for maintenance:
•
0.3 m on the right and left sides;
•
1 m at the front.
Fig. 2.a shows the clearances needed for installation and maintenance.

2.2 Water connections
With reference to Fig. 2.b and Fig 2.c :
1.
Water inlet, G ½ ” F. The following must be installed on the feedwater
line, upstream of the water inlet (Fig. 2.d):
•
a manual shut-off valve;
•
a ≤ 10 μm water filter (Carel P/N MCC05PP005 for the cartridge and
MCFILWAT05 for the casing);
•
an expansion vessel of at least 5 litres to absorb any water hammer.
2.
Cabinet water drain for Rilsan tubing, OD 14 mm with quick coupling
3.
Bottom tank water drain, ID 8 mm hose coupling.
4.
Pressurised water outlets, G ½” F.
5.
Drain water inlets from distribution rack for Rilsan tubing, OD 8 mm
with quick coupling
Note
: models KEC*****10 are supplied with just one quick coupling
fitting already fitted on the drain solenoid valve for step 1, while the
drain solenoid valve for step 2 is plugged. If the distribution system has
two modulation steps, once 2 step has been configured, remove the plug
and install the quick connector supplied in a bag.

The tubing on the high pressure side can be supplied by Carel upon
request (P/N KERFH**140, diam. 14x10 mm, from the pump to the
distribution system; KERFH**080 diam. 8x5 mm from the distribution
system to the drain solenoid valve on P/Ns KEC****H10). Flexible
plastic tubing should be used, able to withstand working pressures of
at least 23 bars at T=23°C (73.4°F) and at least 17 bars at T=40°C (104°F).
For hygienic reasons, the tubing must be dark in colour so that no
light passes through (e.g. black). Alternatively, use rigid piping that is
compatible with the feedwater used (stainless steel for demineralised
water). Minimum inside diameter 10 mm and rated operating pressure
PN 15 bars.
