Variations of head height, back pressure, time, monitoring mode option, 

pump tilt or any combination of these may affect rate accuracy.  Factors that 

can influence head height and back pressure are:  Infusion set configuration, 

IV solution viscosity, and IV solution temperature.  Back pressure may also 

be affected by catheter type.  See "Trumpet and Start-up Curves" for data on 

how certain factors influence rate accuracy.
