Hard disk drive
The imagePASS ships with a formatted hard disk drive. This means that all of the software,
network drivers, and fonts necessary to use the imagePASS are preinstalled. Replacement hard
disk drives are not formatted, so if you replace the hard disk drive, you must also reinstall
system software (see
If you want to determine the amount of space left on the hard disk drive, use the copier touch
panel. The amount of space on the hard disk drive changes based on use, since it is used to
process jobs.
Before replacing the hard disk drive
Before you replace the hard disk drive, note the following:
• Print the Configuration page and Font List.
The Configuration page records the customer’s current Setup configuration (custom
settings will be lost when you install system software). The Font List details what fonts are
resident on the imagePASS. Along with the fonts that are provided on the System Software
DVD, the customer may have installed additional fonts that will be deleted when system
software is installed.
• If you suspect that the hard disk drive is the source of a problem, first check the connectors
on the hard disk drive and the motherboard. If you find a loose or faulty connection,
correct it and check to see if the problem still exits. If it does, then try replacing the hard
disk drive.
• If you suspect that either the hard disk drive or motherboard are the source of a problem,
replace the hard disk drive first and check to see if the problem still exists. If it does, then
try replacing the motherboard.
