4. Top Pick-Up Mode
a. Operation
When top pick-up mode is executed with
originals on the original tray, the following will
take place:
1) Pick-Up Separation
The paper stop plate is brought down, and
the paper retaining plate is moved down to
the stack of originals; then, the first page of
the stack is picked up.
After pick-up, the original is fed between
the separation belt and the feeding roller to
prevent double feeding. (The direction of
rotation of the separation belt and the
feeding roller is the opposite of the
direction in bottom pick-up mode.)

2) Arching
The original is butted against the
registration roller so that it arches.
