CLEANING THE AIR FILTER
CAUTION
Be very careful not to allow any dirt or foreign
matter into the airbox when you have the filter
removed. Severe engine damage will result if
foreign matter or dirt enter the combustion
chamber via the airbox.
Use only high quality foam air filter specific
oils. Consult your authorized Cannondale
motorsports dealer for available oil brands.
The air filter must be completely dry before
applying the air filter oil.
Make sure the airbox filter fits properly so
there are no gaps around the mating surfaces.
Use a high quality water-proof grease on the
filter where it contacts the airbox to help
guard against unfiltered air entering the
system.
1.
To clean the filter, remove the seat.
2.
Release the retaining clip and remove the filter
from the airbox. Use your thumb to push down
on the clip and use the index finger of your
other hand to guide the clip end off the airbox
catch.
3.
Do not attempt to remove the clip entirely; its
not necessary. Simply, move the clip to one
side and remove the filter from the airbox.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Fire or explosion, filter damage
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Using gasoline or other low flash point solvents to
clean the air filter can result in a fire or explosion.
