Upper and Lower Frame Separation
STEP 1
Follow Steps 1 through 9 of the Track Removal And
Installation section of this manual to remove the track
and remove all four idler wheels.
NOTE: The upper and lower frames can be separated
and rubber springs or pins replaced with the
undercarriage installed on a machine. This manual
shows the undercarriage and drive wheel removed for
a complete overhaul.
NOTE: The rubber springs are only on the 30/
36D23MC and 30/36D22MC models.
NOTE: If replacing the rubber springs or pins with the
undercarriage installed on a machine, proceed to Step
3 and use the jacks used to remove the track to
support or raise the undercarriage.
STEP 2
Follow Steps 1 and 2 of the Drive Wheel Seal And
Bearing Replacement section of this manual to
remove the drive wheel (1).
Follow Steps 1 and 5 through 9 of the Idler Axle And
Tension Arm Removal and Installation section of this
manual to remove the tension arm and cylinder (2).
STEP 3
Install lifting straps (1) or cinch chains and a hoist as
shown to support the upper frame.
