Maintenance

Tensioning the Belts

Knife drive belt - Profiled belt Poly-V

It is tensioned by an eccentric idler fastened by a screw. To tension it, cut the

power supply by turning the main switch on OFF.

Feed drive belt- Profiled belt Poly-V

It is tensioned by slots on the gear box clamp. To tension it, cut the power supply

by turning the main switch on OFF.

Grinding unit drive belt - Flat belt

It is tensioned by the motor weight and by a spring hooked on the motor bracket.

When assembling the belt pay attention to the arrow showing the rotation direc-

tion.

Setting the Thickness Readout

With the steady guide bar mounted, set the splitting thickness to the minimum value

(0.2 mm) .
If the value is not achieved, proceed as follow :
1 Remove guide plate guard LCP (fig. 1)
2 Loosen screw VP (fig. 1) fixing the potentiometer support
3 Move potentiometer RP2 (fig. 1) away from the chain
4 Turn the gear on the potentiometer until the readout displays 0.2 mm

Interchanging the Bottom Knurled Feed Roll/Rubber

Coated Feed Roll

MAKE THE KNIFE DULL by repeatedly pushing device TF (fig. 1) against the

cutting edge. Stop the machine.
Cut the power supply by means of main switch QS1
1 Set the bottom feed roll pressure to the minimum value by means of handwheel F

(fig. beside).

2 Remove the upper cover plates, the front cover plates and the feed table.
3 Back off screws VR (fig.1)
4 Remove knurled feed roll RZ (fig.1)
5 Mount the rubber coated feed roll and secure with screws VR
6 Remount the feed table, the front cover plates and the upper cover plates
7 Switch on power and restart working

Scrap Exhaustor

Scrap pan CS (fig. 1)

On versions C 520 L and C 520 X the scrap level in the pan is monitored by an

electronic switch with an alarm or message on the display when the pan is full.

Scrap dust inner filter FC (fig. 1)

It is composed by a filtering panel hinged inside the exhaustor pan. It must be

periodically cleaned (use an exhaustor). When doing the job of slight splitting that

causes much fine dust, it can be necessary to clean it even daily.

Scrap dust bag filter SPS (fig. 1)

The bag filter receives the pre-filtered air from the exhaustor. On each knife

replacement clean the bag with a vacuum cleaner or a brush.
