3.12 Connecting the DS1 Cables
Terminate the DS1 cables with RJ-48c plugs. Each RJ-48c position is wired for a single line as indicated in Table 3-3.
Table 3-3: Pinout Wiring on RJ-48c Jack Holders on ON 2364
Use the following steps to connect the DS1 cables:
1. Route the Subscriber DS1 wires through a hole on the bottom right side of the enclosure.
2. Using the RJ-48c crimper, attach an RJ-48c plug to the Tx and Rx twisted pairs of each DS1. Connect the Tx pair to Pins
1 and 2; connect the Rx pair to Pins 4 and 5. Tx indicates traffic that enters the ONT from a device attached to the ONT.
Rx indicates traffic from the ONT that enters a device attached to the ONT.

3. Insert each previously-terminated DS service plug into each RJ-48c jack. If applying Dow Corning® High-Vacuum
grease to weatherproof the ONT, as described in Section 3.3.2
, inject a small amount
ball about 1/4 inch diameter into each connector receptacle. Slowly insert an the connector, allowing the grease to well
up and fill all the space in the RJ-45 connector and around the DS1 cable. Make sure to remove any excess grease.
