The UNIT number will be added to the MIDI input/output device names.
In your application, select the MIDI input/output device that you want to use.
* In some cases, a number such as “2-” or “3-” will be added to the beginning of the MIDI input/
output device name. This number is automatically added by the operating system, and has no
relation to the UNIT number setting.
* For the UM-3EX, instead of “UM-3G” appearing in the MIDI input/output device name, “UM-
3EX” will be shown.
Windows XP users

First, carry out the installation for only the first UM-3G unit, as described in “Installing
the Driver” (p. 15).
When installation is completed, temporarily disconnect the UM-3G from the computer.
* Do not connect the second or third UM-3G (or UM-3EX) units at this point.

If you’re also using an UM-3EX, install the UM-3EX driver using the same procedure as
in step 1.
The UM-3EX driver is provided on the included “UM-2G/UM-3G CD-ROM.”

3. Set the [MODE] switch and [UNIT] switch of the UM-3G (or UM-3EX).
* Even if you’re using the UM-3G in combination with a UM-3EX, you must use the UM-3G as the
first unit connected to the computer. You can’t use the UM-3EX as the first unit.
