Clear Reset Counters
Each IES maintains three counters for each processor under its control:
•
CPR Resets: the number of times the IES has detected a failure and automatically reset the pro-
cessor
•
Manual Resets: the number of times the user has requested the processor to be reset through
BCVision or SNMP
•
Normal Resets: the number of times the processor has been reset due to a cause not listed above
(for example, upon loss of carrier function)
This option initializes all of the counters to zero for the marked Processors. To perform this option,
select Clear Reset Counters from the Functions Menu.
Set Processor Online
To place an offline processor on-line, select this option. Only marked processors with a status of
“Offline” will be affected by execution of this function. Any processor that is displayed on the BC
Status Screen that is not indicated as “Offline” is considered to be on-line, even if its status is
“Inactive”.
The status of Pending Offline will be set to Disabled by the Set Processors Online option.
Set Processor Offline
Although this option is available, Cabletron does not recommend its use.
When this option is selected, the IES places the processor into a reset state and holds it in this
condition until the processor is once again placed online using the Set Processor Online option.
WARNING:
Processors should not be placed offline while they are currently in use. To safeguard the
EMS processor, include the key word super in the description field for the processor. (See
page 46
).
Enable CPR
CPR
refers to Processor Recovery. CPR enables a processor to automatically reset a failed
processor.
CAUTION:
Although this option is available, Cabletron does not recommend its use. We recommend
power on/off cycles to ensure proper system reset/restart.
WARNING
:
Do not enable CPR on processors functioning as NetWare file servers. File servers should
be brought down in an orderly manner by the system administrator.
Disable CPR
Select this option from the Functions Menu to disable the CPR feature on the marked processors.
We recommend you disable CPR on all processors.
