CONTROLS AND INDICATORS – CONTROL HEAD
All basic functions are controlled by keys on the front panel of the Control Head (Figure 2).
Nine of the main functions are selected by individual keys and the remaining functions are
menu-selected through Up and Down Keys, and executed by Menu Run key. For test situations
requiring a greater capability in commands, data input and data display, the optional PC interface
may be used. The Control Head also contains an ENABLE keyswitch, and EARPHONE jack, a
VOLUME control knob, and a body conductance PROBE jack.

Individual keys directly select nine functions. Three keys are used for menu selections.

Reset
When RESET is selected, the Tester assumes a “wait” state, and it remains in that state until
another mode is selected. RESET can also be used to terminate a mode in operation. User
labels, wire list data, and setup parameters are not affected by the RESET command. When
displaying the floppy disk directory or sub-menu, pressing RESET will return the system
back to displaying menu-selected modes.
Test
When TEST is selected, a scan on the circuit under test is initiated, and compared with the
stored configuration in memory. If it is successful (no errors), the display shows PASSED,
and a tone sounds. If an error is encountered, the points in error are displayed, along with an
indication of whether the error is an open or short. (An “O” is displayed for an open and a
“S” is displayed for a short.) When an error is found, scanning stops and waits for the TEST
switch to be pressed again to continue testing.
Error List
When ERROR LIST is selected, a test is initiated and all detected errors are printed. If no
error is located, the word PASSED is printed.
Search
Pressing this switch initiates scanning of the assembly using body conductance. When a wire
end is touched the display will readout the wire or wires being touched.
