SEQUENTIAL BUILD (SEQ BUILD)
This is a recorded procedure that provides an assembly sequence for a specific wire harness,
using a program downloaded to the Model 256/PC and arranged in a specific sequence order.
The SEQ BUILD mode requires use of the wrist strap to locate and identify displayed points, and
the foot switch to bypass sequence steps. A complete procedure is provided below. Once
familiarized, the user may refer to Figure 11. To select and use SEQ BUILD in building an
assembly, proceed as follows:
1. Load program into the working memory (refer to Loading a Program).
2. Attach wrist strap to arm, and plug wrist strap lead into PROBE jack on the rear panel.
3. Plug foot switch lead into FOOTSWITCH jack on the rear panel.
4. Connect harness assembly fixture.
5. Press SEQ BUILD; the Model 256/PC will proceed to check each programmed
continuity according to the stored sequence.
6. When a proper termination is not found in one of the sequence steps, the sequencing will
stop and the FROM and TO points will be displayed.
7. An "F" will appear at the left of the display when the FROM point is touched, and a "T"
will appear when the TO point is touched. Also, as soon as either the FROM or the TO is
touched, an intermittent tone will sound. The tone and the "F" or "T" will be present only
while the points are touched.
8. The Model 256/PC will then test for the remaining stored sequence steps until the next
open circuit in the sequence is found.
9. Steps may be bypassed by pressing the foot switch once for each step to be bypassed.
10. When the last sequence step has been tested, the display will show "OK". A test of the
assembly may now be performed to find any shorts that may have developed during
assembly, or open circuits if sequence steps were bypassed.
