PREPARATION
UNPACKING
Upon unpacking the Model 256/PC from its shipping carton, inspect it for evidence of abuse
during shipment. If such is found, notify Cablescan and the carrier at once. Save the shipping
carton and packing materials for later use.
INITIAL HOOKUP
When shipped from the factory, the Model 256/PC is set for operating from one of the following
power sources:
104 to 126 VRMS at 50/60 HZ.
208 to 252 VRMS at 50/60 HZ.
The line power cord receptacle on the rear panel (Figure 2) is labeled for one of the above power
ratings.
1. Be sure that the power is of the same rating before connecting the power cord. If not,
refer to "Changing Power Settings."
2. Make sure that the power switch on the back panel is set to 0 (off), and then plug in the
power cord.
3. Turn power switch to 1 (on), and observe that a message is displayed. The Model
256/PC is ready for use. (If nothing happens, check power source, power cord
connections, and the fuse on the rear panel.)
PROGRAM CARTRIDGE INSTALLATION
Each Program Cartridge can store up to sixteen programs. A label on the outside surface of the
cartridge (Figure 13) contains blanks for entering program names and signature codes. This
label is erasable so it can be updated each time a change is made in cartridge contents.
CAUTION
Be sure to turn off the power before installing or
removing a Program Cartridge.
To install a Program Cartridge, proceed as follows:
1. Turn power off (Power switch on rear panel).
2. Verify cartridge contents on label: it may be empty; contains program(s) that may be
deleted; or contain the program(s) to be used.
3. Use Load Cartridge Program function to scroll through the signature codes of the
programs one at a time. Check the signature code of each against the code recorded on
the cartridge label. If no programs are present, "MEMORY IS EMPTY" will be
displayed.
