CAUTION
The indications noted in this chapter replace the indications of the
standard installation and operating manuals!
Vacuum pump
Before setting up, you must familiarise yourself with the entire installa-
tion and operating manual of the COBRA NC 0100 ... 0300 B.
Before operation, the pump must be filled with the relevant gear and
cooling oils (see also the installation manual).
In case of wrong rotation of the pump, extensive damage can occur.
Quickly press the Start / Stop button to check the rotation sense (see
“Electrical connection”).
At temperatures near or below freezing point, the pump must run with
the relevant antifreeze in the cooling system.
After the start-up, the vacuum pump has to be controlled everyday re-
garding any noise appearance. In such a case, immediately stop the
pump, see “Troubleshooting”.
Adjustment of the thermostatic valve
(option) and adjustment of the
temperature class
The temperature class of the vacuum pump is defined for an inside (i)
and outside (o) area, see explosion protection group on the vacuum
pump and also this installation manual. The inside area is in contact with
the pumping medium and the outside area with the environment around
the pump. In case of identical temperature classes for the inside and out-
side area, only one temperature class will be indicated, which is valid for
both areas.
WARNING
The keeping of the temperature class is controlled by the tempera-
ture sensors TSA+/ 0102 and TSA+/ 0103. The adjustment values of
the temperature sensors are defined in the “COBRA ATEX
Catalogue”.
The temperatures checked depend on several running values. In order to
ensure a trouble-free running, the adjustment of the thermostat valve
(option) should be done when the specialized Busch fitters prepare the
starting of the pump.
The following running values have a direct influence on the checked
temperatures:
l
Temperature of the gas entry (< 60 °C)
l
Cooling medium (water, mixture of water-glycol or thermal oil)
l
Differential pressure between the entry and outlet of cooling
medium
l
Cooling medium temperature
l
Pressure on suction side and pressure side
l
Frequency used
l
Ambient temperature
The following table shows the following recommendations for the ad-
justment of the thermostatic valve in case of different running

If a rating is modified at a later date, thereby causing an increase of the
gas temperature; e.g. by the increase of the cooling medium tempera-
ture, the adjustment of the thermostatic valve must be done accordingly.
WARNING
The adjustment of the thermostatic valve is only admissible in case
of absence of any explosive atmosphere.
After the adjustment, the pump has to run minimum 30 minutes wi-
thout any explosive atmosphere inside.
