Nothing Clicks: Starter Test 4 (Part 2 of 2)

Make sure the Transmission is in Neutral.

Is the Neutral Lamp on?

Yes

Disconnect Neutral Switch

connector [131]. Connect [131B]

to Ground.

Does the Neutral Lamp turn ON?

Yes

Repair

open.

Yes

Is 12V present on Start

Relay terminal “86” with

the Engine Stop Switch in

the RUN position and the

Start Switch pressed?

NOTE

Depending on relay used,

relay socket terminal could

be shown as “1” or “R”.

Replace

Start

Relay.

Yes

Disconnect Right Hand Controls

connector [22]. Test for continuity

between terminal “1” and terminal

“2” of connector [22B] with the

Start Switch pressed.

Is there continuity?

Disconnect ECM connector

[10] (BLK). Test for

continuity on (GN/O)

between Start Relay socket
terminal “85” and connector

[10B] terminal “7”. Is there

continuity?

NOTE

Depending on relay used,

relay socket terminal could

be shown as “2” or “P”.

Yes

Replace ECM.

Start the Engine.

Does the Engine start?

Yes

Test the Start Relay. Refer to 1.5

DIAGNOSTICS/

TROUBLESHOOTING.

Did the Start Relay test out good?

Yes

System

functioning

normally.

Disconnect Clutch

switch connector [95].

Check for continuity

between terminal “1”

and terminal “2” of

connector [95A] with the

clutch disengaged

(pulled in).

Is there continuity?

Yes

Test for continuity from

connector [95B] terminal

“2” to chassis Ground.

Is there continuity?

Replace

Clutch

Switch.

Turn off Engine. Shift

Transmission out of Neutral.

With clutch disengaged

(pulled in) Start the Engine.

Does the Engine Start?

Yes

Replace ECM.

Yes

Repair open in

(BK/R) circuit

terminal “1”.

Replace Start

Switch.

Disconnect ECM

connector [11].

Measure continuity from

connector [95B] terminal

“1” to connector [11B]

terminal “2”.

Is there continuity?

Yes
