Idle Air Control: DTC P0506 (34); DTC P0507 (34); DTC P0511 (34) (Part 1 of 2)

YES

Remove air cleaner cover and element.

Is throttle valve completely closed?

Monitor Idle Air Control (IAC) pintle for 2

seconds after turning Ignition Switch ON.

Does pintle extend and then retract during 2

second Ignition Switch ON reset procedure?

STOP

Lubricate and
adjust throttle

cables.

Check intake manifold for

leaks. See 2.9 INTAKE

LEAK TEST.

Leaks found?

Disconnect IAC Motor and connect test

lamp. Turn Ignition Switch ON for 2

seconds, then turn Ignition Switch OFF.

Check test lamp during Ignition Switch

ON/OFF cycle.

YES

Check fuel

pressure.

See 2.15 FUEL

PRESSURE

TEST.

Repair

intake

leak.

Normal

behavior.

Remove test lamp. Connect

Breakout Box to connector [11B]

leaving the Electronic Control

Module (ECM) disconnected. Check

terminal “17” for battery voltage.

Battery voltage present?

YES

Turn Ignition Switch ON. With ECM
still disconnected, check voltage on

all four terminals at connector [87B].

Is voltage present?

Repair poor connection

at connectors [87B] or

[11B] or repair open wire

in harness.

Repair short

to voltage.

Go to Idle Air Control Test

DTC P0506 (34); P0507 (34);

P0511 (34) (Part 2 of 2).

Repair faulty IAC

Motor connection

or IAC Motor

assembly.

Go to 2.13 NO

ECM POWER.

NOTE:

Clear DTCs and confirm proper
operation with no check engine lamp.
Codes can be cleared using DIGITAL
TECHNICIAN (Part No. HD-44750).
