The horizontal run must have a
1/4”
rise on an exterior wall and
must meet all local and national building codes, and must not be
easily blocked or obstructed. Termination clearances are as follows
(see Figure 16):
A.
Clearance above ground, verandah, porch, deck, or balcony:

B.
Clearance to a window or door that may be opened:

C.
Vertical clearance to a ventilated soffit located above the termi-
nation within a horizontal distance of 2 feet from the centerline
of the termination:

D.
Clearance to an unventilated soffit:

minimum (30 cm).
