Installing the Seat & Liner
CAUTION
Be extremely careful not to gall or scratch the sealing surface of
the seat. Scratches may later cause excessive leakage and seal
wear.
When used, solid tungsten carbide seats and liners should be
handled with care, avoiding impact or excessive loads, to prevent
damage.
13.2.1 Ensure the segment is in the fully closed position. Insert the seat
through the downstream bore (with the seal surface facing the
segment) until the seat contacts the segment.
13.2.2 Select seat seal guide (not shown) from
Table 3
, based on valve
size. Place the seat seal guide on the seat. Insert springs and seat
seal with guide washers on each side.
13.2.3 Insert liner, retainer gasket, and liner retainer onto body.
13.2.4 Use hydraulic press against liner retainer to compress liner and
seat seal assembly until the liner retainer contacts body end
flange. (Use loads shown in
Table 4
).
13.2.5 Install retainer screws and hand tighten. (Ensure the seat seal
guide is removed after the liner retainer screws have been
installed.)
NOTICE
Retainer screws are designed for retention only. Retainer gasket
will be compressed by tightening of the end flange bolting.
