S tep 1 . R emove combustion system as described in
“C ombustion S ystem R emova l P rocedure . ”
S tep 2. Measure spark gap bet w een the spark rod and
burner tube . A cceptab l e spark gap is f rom 3 /16" to
1/ 4 " ( see photo be l o w) .
S tep 3 . I f spark gap is not bet w een 3 /16" to 1/ 4 ” , the spark
rod may be care f u ll y bent by supporting the end
near the ceramic insu l ator w ith p l iers and bending
the end near the burner tube w ith need l e nose
p l iers ( see photo be l o w) .
S tep 4. R e - measure and veri f y spark gap is bet w een 3 /16"
to 1/ 4 " a f ter bending .
S tep 5 . V eri f y the integrity o f a ll gaskets and rep l ace w here required .
S tep 6 . R einsta ll the combustion system per “C ombustion S ystem R ep l acement P rocedure ” and check severa l
ignitions to ensure the burner l ights smooth l y .
