constantly updated with the aid of measure-
ments from traffic control centres and indica-
tions from congestion detectors.
During route guidance, the traffic information
applicable to the route appears automatically
and it is taken into account in the route plan-
ning. You can also call up all traffic information
manually via iDrive.
The traffic information is displayed in the map
view.
Switching reception on/off
1. "Navigation"
2. Call up "Options".
3. Activate/deactivate "Receive traffic info".
Traffic information in a list
The list of traffic information can be displayed
via the map view or menu.
Calling up traffic information
1. "Navigation"
2. "Map"
3. If necessary, tilt the controller to the left.
4. Select the symbol: "Traffic information"
Traffic information for the chosen route is
displayed first. Traffic information is
arranged in order of distance from the car's
current position.
5. Select traffic information.
Additional information can be displayed for cer-
tain traffic information:
1. Select the symbol.
2. Further information is displayed.
3. To exit the menu:
Tilt the controller to the left.
Traffic information in the map
If the traffic information map is activated, the
Control Display switches to grey scale. This
facilitates optimum traffic information display.
Day/night mode is not taken into consideration
for this setting. The symbols for points of inter-
est are no longer displayed.

Symbols in the map view
Depending on the scale of the map and location
of the traffic obstruction in relation to the route,
the symbols for traffic obstructions are dis-
played.
Additional information in the map view
Depending on the scale, the length, direction
and effect of a traffic obstruction are indicated
by road signs in the map or bars along the cal-
culated route.
Filtering traffic information
You can filter which traffic information the sys-
tem is to display:
1. "Navigation"
2. "Map"
3. Call up "Options".
4. "Traffic info categories"
5. Select the desired category.
The traffic information of the selected catego-
ries is displayed.
> Traffic information regarding the route itself
cannot be hidden.
> For your own personal safety, traffic infor-
mation that indicates potential danger, e.g.
oncoming drivers on the wrong side of the
road, cannot be hidden.
