Navigation system

General

The navigation system can determine the pre-
cise position of the vehicle by means of satel-
lites and guide you reliably to any specified des-
tination.

Only enter data when the car is standing 
still, and always obey the actual traffic 

regulations and road signs in the event of any 
contradiction between the traffic situation and 
the instructions given by the navigation system. 
Failure to do so may result in a violation of traffic 
laws and put the car's occupants and other road 
users at risk.

Navigation data

General

Navigation data is saved in the vehicle and can 
be updated.
You can obtain navigation data and the enable 
code from BMW Service.
Depending on the volume of data, updating the 
data can take several hours.

The data is updated while the vehicle is in 
motion.

>

The update resumes automatically when 
you continue your journey.

>

All functions are available while the vehicle 
is in motion.

>

Data is stored in the vehicle.

>

After updating, the system reboots.

>

The medium containing the navigation data 
can be removed following the update.

Navigation system Professional:

Updating navigation data

Inserting navigation DVD

1.

Insert the navigation DVD in the DVD player 
with the labelled side upwards.

2.

Follow the instructions on the Control Dis-
play.

3.

Enter the enable code of the navigation 
DVD and, if necessary, change the DVD.

Removing navigation DVD

1.

 Press button

The DVD is partially ejected out of the drive.

2.

Remove the DVD.

Navigation system Business:
Updating navigation data

1.

Insert a USB medium with navigation data 
into the USB interface in the glove box.

2.

Follow the instructions on the Control Dis-
play.

3.

Enter the enable code of the USB medium.

Querying the update status
