The included label plate, shown below, must be permanently attached inside the cavity of the fi replace in a
visible location.

only and cannot be used for burning wood or solid fuels unless all original
parts have been replaced, and the fi replace reapproved by the authority having
jurisdiction.

• Cutting any sheet-metal parts of a steel solid fuel
burning fi replace, in which the gas fi replace insert is
to be installed, is prohibited.
• The fi replace fl ue damper can be fully blocked open
or removed for installation of the gas fi replace insert.
• The fi replace and fi replace chimney must be clean
and in good working order and constructed of non-
combustible materials.
• Chimney cleanouts must fi t properly.

FACTORY BUILT FIREPLACE OR ZERO CLEARANCE

• Ensure that there is a minimum base of sheet metal
below the unit upon installation along with supplied
levelling bolts.
• If the factory-built fi replace has no gas access
hole(s) provided, an access hole of 1.5” (37.5 mm)
or less may be drilled through the lower sides or
bottom of the fi rebox in a proper workmanship-like
manner. This access hole must be plugged with non-
combustible insulation after the gas supply line has
been installed.
• Refractory, glass doors, screen rails, screen mesh,
and log grates can be removed from the fi replace
before installing the gas fi replace insert.
• Smoke shelves, shields, and baffl es may be removed
if attached by mechanical fasteners.
• Trim panels or surrounds shall not seal ventilation
openings in the fi replace.
Massachusetts installations (Warning): This product must be installed by a licensed plumber or gas fi tter when
installed within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Other Massachusetts code requirements: Flexible
connector must not be longer than 36in., a shut off valve must be installed; only direct vent sealed combustion
products are approved for bedrooms/bathrooms. A carbon monoxide detector is required in all rooms
containing gas fi red direct vent appliances. The fi replace damper must be removed or welded in the open
position prior to installation of a fi replace insert.
