Downmix
The downmix function allows you to create a stereo signal from a
Dolby Prologic signal. This can then be distributed to the four
loudspeakers.
Dolby Digital
The Dolby Digital multi-channel technology uses up to six chan-
nels, and therefore gives a convincing impression of spatial depth
and a high sense of reality. This is provided by separate chan-
nels for the left, right and centre loudspeakers in the front of the
vehicle, along with two full-range surround loudspeakers in the
back of the vehicle as well as a subwoofer.
DVD video
DVD video is a software standard specified by the DVD Forum
specifically for video signals. An application layer is also neces-
sary for DVD. This specifies standards for such things as the play-
back speed, forward/ reverse play, interactivity, up to eight audio
tracks with up to eight channels, and adjustment of camera an-
gles.
MP3
MP3 stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, and is a data format in
which music can be compressed and stored digitally. Due to its
ability to combine high quality with small file sizes as well as its
platform-independence, the MP3 format has now become the
leading format for compressed audio.
