MINIATURE 2-CHANNEL STATISTICAL MULTIPLEXOR
5.2 Operating Instructions
5.2.1 G
ENERAL
After being prepared for operation as explained in
Sections 4.3
through
4.7
, the
Multiplexor normally operates unattended. Operator intervention is only required
when the Multiplexor is setup for the first time or must be adapted to new
operational requirements. Multiplexor configuration is stored in a non-volatile
memory, and is not affected when power is tumed off.

Connect the power cable to the Multiplexor jack, then plug the power-supply unit
into the mains. The SYNC indicator should light.
If the link to the far Multiplexor is not yet operational, the SYNC indicator will
flash. Wait until the link becomes operational, and check that the SYNC indicator
stops flashing and lights continuously.
Check that after a few seconds (during which Multiplexor performs its self-test),
the OVF indicator is extinguished.

ORMAL

PERATION
During normal operation, the PWR (when present), SYNC, and MAIN indicators
should light continuously, and the TEST and OVF indicators must remain off.
Sub-channel activity indicators flash according to the traffic load, and are
extinguished when the sub-channel is idle.
NOTE
When the TEST indicator lights, traffic is interrupted, even if all the other
indications are normal.
On noisy links, the SYNC indicator may flash from time to time: this indicates
automatic retransmission of a data frame. Automatic retransmission occurs upon
remote Multiplexor request: the request is sent when errors are detected in the
received data, and its use ensures that only valid data is transferred.

To power off the Multiplexor, disconnect the power supply from the mains, then
disconnect, if required, the power cable from Multiplexor jack.
