APPENDIX D: Changing the Data Interface Types
77
You can configure the DATA CHANNEL and
COMPOSITE interface connectors to give one of
three types of signal levels: RS-232, V.35, or RS-530.
Configuration is implemented by a set of
daughterboards and jumper blocks.
A fourth interface type, RS-449, can be derived
from an RS-530 interface type using special
converter cables. A fifth composite interface type,
X.21, may be derived from an RS-530 type using
X.21 special converter cables. Refer to
Appendix F
for cabling details.
Both interface connectors are configured at the
factory to signal-level types specified with the order.
If you need to change the interface type of either or
both connectors, read the rest of this appendix.
WARNING!
To change interface types, you must
remove the top cover in order to gain
access to the interior of the Multiserver
500. Do NOT attempt to remove the top
cover while the Multiserver 500 is
connected to the power source.
