Drying the Diffuser
Drying the Diffuser
If the detector has been operated incorrectly, the diffuser may
become blocked with liquid. This is manifested by loss of signal,
increased baseline noise and, in the extreme case, gas bubbling out of
the nebulizer drain tube. If this happens, proceed as follows:
1 Increase the gas flow to 2.8 SLM and increase the evaporator to
maximum temperature.
The diffuser will be dried out and the detector ready to use after
approximately 1 hour under these conditions.
2 Reset the detector to the correct operating conditions and allow it
to stabilize before continuing.
