The Balance System SD runs and records the following tests (see Figure 6.1).

Each test can be run with a static or a dynamic platform.
For a static test, the device measures the angular excursion of the patient's center of gravity
(COG), which is calculated from the patient’s height. COG is approximately 55% of height.
In a dynamic test, the variance of the platform angle from the platform’s level position is
measured, as well as degrees of deflection over time. This data illustrates the patient’s ability
to control balance.
CAUTION:
Always supervise the patient. When patients are working with their
eyes closed, be ready to assist in case they lose their balance.
