ASSEMBLY
FRONT AND REAR WHEEL
Inspect the wheel hub before adjusting it to the
fork by turning the threaded shaft. You must do it
gently, without lateral movement. Insert the front
wheel between the tips of the fork. Tighten the nuts
using the appropriate 14 or 15mm wrench. Spin the
wheel to make sure it is well placed. Some bikes
have wheel axles that incorporate a mechanism for
quick release (QR). This allows you to take out the
wheel easily, without tools. The mechanism uses a
wide hollow bolt with an adjustment nut on one end
and a lever that operates a turnbuckle at the other
end.
If the wheel axle is placed with a quick opening mechanism, turn the adjusting nut so that the locking
lever moves to the closed position with a steady motion. Halfway to the closed position of the quick
release lever, you should begin to feel a certain resistance to this movement. Do not tighten the quick
release lever and using a wing nut. If the quick release lever moves to the closed position without resist-
ance, the clamping force is insufficient. Move the quick release lever to the open position, tighten the nut
of the quick release lever and replace the lever in the closed position.
CORRECT PLACEMENT OF THE QUICK RELEASE LEVER
1. To place it, turn the lever to the open position so that the curved part may be in the opposite direction
to the bike.
2. While holding the lever with one hand, tighten the nut until it stops.
3. Turn the lever to the closed position. When the
lever is halfway to the closed position, you must
feel a certain resistance to move forward from that
point. If the resistance is not great, open the lever
and tighten the nut in a clockwise direction.
4. Keep turning the lever to the closed position, so
that the curved part of the lever is facing the bike.
5. The wheel is secure when the serrated surfaces
of the quick release fixing parts of the lever come to the surfaces of the frame / fork of the bike.
6. Keep in mind that the procedure is the same as used when placing the quick-release mechanism of
the saddle seatpost.
7. Put the bike in an upright position using the support leg to support it.
If you can fully close the lever for quick release without engaging your fingers in the fork blades to rotate
it, and if the lever does not leave a clear imprint in the palm of your hand, tension is not enough. Open
the lever, turn the adjustment and try again.
