LINE SPEED

This parameter should be set to the actual line speed that the

interface is being clocked at.  ISDN calls are generally
established at 64000 bits/s per channel, but some services in
North America can only support 56000 bits/s.

COMPRESS-
ION

Data compression can increase the effective bandwidth of the
port typically between 2 and 8 times.  The degree of
compression that can be achieved depends largely on the
format of the data being transferred and the speed of the link.

Options are DISABLED, ENABLED and FAST.

ENABLED allows the system to use its standard bandwidth
optimisation algorithm for compression.

FAST should be used on links where the data is only partially
compressible. You should monitor the effect of turning
compression on and off.

DIAL
TIMEOUT

The time that the bridge allows between making a request for
a destination, and expecting a response back.  For local calls,
10 seconds would be adequate, but for international calls this
may need to be extended.

ATZ STRING

When a call is dropped, the bridge sends this string to re-

initialise the TA.  Leave this as AT^M for the internal TA.

DEMAND

Allows the system to dial up additional bandwidth to support

this link if the configured threshold values are met (see
Demand Threshold below).

Options are DISABLED or ENABLED

DEMAND
THRESHOLD

This item specifies the percentage loading on the link which
must be reached over a period of time before dialled-up
bandwidth is requested (see Demand Period below).

Each time this threshold is reached, additional bandwidth
will be requested. This means that a link can request multiple
connections to the same destination to add bandwidth.
