Before Initial Use
1. Check the items supplied for completeness (see the "Items Supplied" chapter) and
possible transport damage. If you
fi
nd any damage, do not use the device (!), but
rather contact the customer service department.
2. Remove any possible
fi
lms, stickers or transport protection from the device.
Never
remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!
3. Before you enjoy your
fi
rst coffee, we recommend that you
fi
ll the water tank up to the
10 CUP
marking with drinking water and perform two cleans without any coffee pow-
der or coffee beans to remove any possible production residues. To do this, follow the
instructions in the “Making Coffee” chapter.
You may notice a slight smell the
fi
rst time you use the device. This is normal and not
a device defect.
4. Then pour away the hot water.
5. Clean the coffee machine in the manner described in the “Cleaning” chapter.
Components of the Coffee Machine
• The water tank (

) can be removed. It is pulled out of the device. When you insert the
water tank, make sure that it is placed in the device as far as it will go.
• To open the coffee machine, press the release button (

ip up the lever (

• The
fi
lter cover (

) is attached to the lid. This can be taken off for cleaning. To do
this, turn the
fi
lter cover anticlockwise. After cleaning, it is pressed onto the holder on
the lid and twisted clockwise to secure it in place.
• The coffee container (

) has a folding handle which can be used to pull it out of the
device.
• The
permanent
fi
lter (

) is pulled out of the coffee container. When inserting it, make
sure that the handle of the permanent
fi
lter is pressed into the appropriate recess.
• The jug (

) is placed with the lid closed onto the hotplate (
