Space Heaters
WARNING: Space Heaters operate at line voltage. Disconnect power to space heaters before performing
maintenance work on motor. Failure to observe this precaution could result in severe bodily
injury or loss of life.
Purpose
Space heaters are used to prevent condensation of moisture within the motor enclosure during shutdown
or storage periods.
Mounting
Space heaters are selected, unless otherwise order, using the following parameters.
1. Sheath temperature 350 ° F (200 ° C) nominal maximum as standard. Lower Sheath temperatures are
available.
2. Temperature rise inside of motor raised approximately 10
°
F (6
°
C) above ambient.
3. Assume ambient maximum of 40 ° C
From the above, space heaters are sized, mounted and terminated at an accessory conduit box.
Leads are tagged.
Approximate Space Heater Wattage for G5000/G315 is 320W, G5810/G40 is 400W, SG50 is 625W and
MG50 is 750W.
Oil Circulation System
Purpose
To provide a source of cool, clean oil to the bearings.
If a system is equipped with a variable needle valve to control flow rate, this valve MUST be adjusted.
Disconnect valve and adjust to flow rate shown on dimension sheet (available from your Baldor Sales
Office.
Description
The oil lubrication system consists of provisions for introducing oil to the bearing and drains which will
permit removal of excess oil in the sump without flooding or without letting the sump level become too
low for the oil rings to pick up oil in the event the source of oil is lost.
Oil inlet and outlets are provided with each bearing to introduce oil into the journal area. An orifice is
provided in the oil inlet pipe line to control the amount of oil introduced into the bearing. The oil outlet will
provide adequate drain without total loss of oil in the sump.
The bearing is also equipped with oil rings.
Requirement
The need for a lubrication system may exist on some ratings due to journal size and speed of the shaft.
In those cases the unit would be supplied with inlet and outlet provisions as standard for connection to a
customer provided source or oil.
The details or ratings that require a flood lubrication system are shown on the dimension sheet.
