Listening to incoming messages
The handsfree facility in the handset makes it possible for you to listen in when the
caller is dictating his message. Simply press the
button during the recording and
you will hear the caller's voice without the caller knowing. To switch off listening in,
press the
button once more.
8.1.4
Interrupting the answering machine
You can personally intervene at any time while the caller is dictating his message by
pressing the call button
. The answering machine will stop and you can speak
directly to the caller.
8.2
Recording your own greeting
Note:
When it was set up, the answering machine was pre-loaded with the german
standard greeting
"Please leave your message after the tone" (“Sprechen Sie bitte
Ihre Nachricht nach dem Ton”).
After you have dictated your own greeting, this
standard greeting will be deleted.
Before recording your greeting, you should write down the text that you want to
record. The length of your own greeting must be at least 3 seconds and must not
exceed 60 seconds. The longer your greeting lasts, the less recording time will be
available for incoming messages. The maximum recording time in standard quality
is
up to
9 minutes. If your greeting lasts for 18 seconds, for example, then 8 minutes
and 42 seconds remain for incoming messages.
Example of a greeting message:
"Hallo, this is 05432/1234. I am sorry but we are
not available to take your call at the moment. However, you can leave a message if
you wish. We will call back as soon as possible. Please speak after the tone. If you
hear a second tone, the recording will stop automatically".
