3.7.2.4. SNMP
Fig. 104. SNMP settings.
The gateway can be managed by SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), and the SNMP
management functionality can be disabled. You can specify the name (used as a
password
) of the
read-only and read-write community. In addition, up to 5 SNMP trap targets can be set in the
SNMP
Trap
table
.
To specify a trap target:
1.
Type the IP address of the target host.
2. Type
the
Community
for the host.
3.
Select the corresponding check box next to the
IP address
text box.
3.7.3. Auto Recovery
In rare cases, the firmware of the access gateway gets stuck in an invalid state due to bugs in the
firmware and the access gateway appears to be locked up from end user perspective. The access
gateway is equipped with two software-based auto recovery mechanisms to solve lockup situations.
The auto recovery mechanisms could be very useful for a WISP before a new version of firmware is
released for bug fixes.
3.7.3.1. Link Integrity Detection
Fig. 105. Link integrity detection settings.
The access gateway can be configured to ping a
Reference host
at intervals specified in
Detection
interval
. If the access gateway cannot get any response after trying for the number of times specified
in
Max number of detection
, it restarts. This mechanism is aimed at solving lockup caused by firm-
ware bugs in the TCP/IP stack of the access gateway.
