V4 Pump Block Assembly Replacement

1.

If the melt unit is cold, allow the pump block [3] to warm to approximately 90 °C (200 °F). If

the melt unit is hot and full of adhesive, either allow the melt unit to cool or drain the
adhesive from the tank.

2.

If the system is hot, relieve pressure by actuating the

applicator(s) several times.

3.

 Turn o

the melt unit, and remove electrical power.

4.

Remove all hoses and pressure gauge, if present, from

the flow control block [1].

5.

Carefully remove the plug [12] and o-ring [13] from the

bottom of the pump block [3], and drain the melted adhesive.

6.

Remove the long socket head cap screws [16] that hold

the pump block [3] to the bottom of the tank.

7.

Remove the 4 bolts [9], washers [10] and spacers [11]

that hold the pump block [3] to the motor mount [8].

8.

Once all 4 fasteners [9, 14] are removed from the pump

block; move the pump block assembly towards the rear of the

chassis.

9.

On the replacement pump block [3] assembly; loosen

the pump coupling [6]. Ensure that the key [5] is installed on the

shaft [4]

10.

Insert the grip sleeve [7] into the pump coupler [6].

11.

Coat the surface of the pump block [3] that contacts

the base of the tank high temperature silicone grease provided.

Ensure that the o-ring [2] is in place.

12.

Place the new pump block [3] assembly into the motor

mount [8]. Align the pump coupler [6] with the motor coupler,

and slide the new assembly into place.

13.

Loosely insert the 4 bolts [9] and washers [10] through

the motor mount [8] into the pump block [3]. Ensure that the

spacers [11] are in place between the motor mount [8] and the

pump block. [3]. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

14.

Insert the socket head cap screws [14] up through the

pump block [3] into the tank bottom. Tighten only finger tight.

15.

Tighten the 4 bolts [9] and washers [10] through the

motor mount [8] and the 4 socket head cap screws [14] through

the pump block [3].

16.

Reinstall the hoses and pressure gauge.

17.

Warm up the melt unit. When the unit is hot, re-tighten

the screws mounted through the pump block [3].

18.

Return the melt unit to service.
