Installation of a New Hose
1. Never fl ex a hose when it is cold. Hoses have a minimum bend radius of 20.32 cm (8 in.)
when hot.
2. Further fl exing will cause permanent damage.
3. Switch o ff the system power, and disconnect the melt unit electrical power from the
external source.
4. Heat the hose JIC fi ttings [1] before adjusting, or damage may result. New or clean hose
fi ttings may not require heating.
5. Install the hoses onto the melt unit by tilting the unit back until the underside is accessible.
6. Support the melt unit with a block on the back of the housing so that hot melt does not
spill. Do not turn the melt unit upside down.
7. Support the hose to prevent excessive fl exing. Do not support the hose in a way which may
add to its thermal insulating characteristics, or overheating will result. Failure to properly
support the hose will result in premature failure.
Install the hose as follows:
1. Loosely connect the hose JIC swivel fi tting [1] to the fi tting [2] on the fl ow control block or
hose manifold [3].
2. Fasten the hose support block [5] to the chassis.
3. Tighten the JIC swivel
fi tting [1].
4. Attach the hose electrical connector [4]
5. Tuck the hose electrical connector [4] under the melt unit.
6. Position and support the hose before using.
7. After heating the hose, tighten the JIC swivel
fi tting [1].
