Press key and the display will prompt you to select which type of Alternator (Smart or Normal) for
testing (Fig. 47 below).
Once selected, press key to continue and the display will show: (Fig.48). Start the engine if it is not
running and keeps it running at idling speed. Make sure the Air condition is OFF.
4. Then rev the engine to around 2,500 ~ 3,000 RPM and hold at this speed. Press key to continue and
display will show. (See Fig. 49).
5. While still holding around 2,500 ~ 3,000 RPM, the timer will start to countdown from 10s to 0s. As soon
as it reaches 0s, the results will automatically display as example shown below (Fig.50).
With the captured readings, analysis can be done by referring to the limits as indicated:
Normal Alternator Charging
:
12V System: No load - MAX voltage should
not exceed
15.0V
and MIN voltage should be
more than
13.3V

Loaded - Should be
more than 12.6V
24V System: No load - MAX voltage should
not exceed
