MAINTENANCE

Some general maintenance suggestions and operating precautions are offered below.

1.

Always disconnect the chamber from all sources of power before attempting any form of
maintenance or service to the chamber electrical circuits.

2.

Avoid connecting the chamber to a power source which exhibits wide voltage or frequency
fluctuation. Such a power source may seriously hamper the performance of the temperature
control instrument.

3.

Avoid using lengthy line cords for supplying electrical power to the chamber since they often
cause undesired voltage drops. For best results connect the chamber to a power line which is
free of any other electrical equipment.

4.

Operate the chamber at a temperature of +300°F for approximately one hour after prolonged
operation at low temperatures. This will, in effect bake out any residual frost or condensate
which may tend to build up after running subfreezing temperature tests.

5.

Bearings of circulation motor are permanently lubricated. No oiling is required.

Should the CO

2

(optional) valve or nozzle become clogged, clean as follows:

1.

Remove the solenoid valve and injection orifice assembly from the chamber.

2.

Clean the injection orifice with a fine wire or micro drill.

3.

Disassemble the solenoid valve to clean the valve seat and seat disc.

The valve is disassembled as follows:

A.

Remove the nut on top of the solenoid housing and with the valve turned upside down lift the
valve base and plunger tube assembly out of the solenoid housing. Do not disassemble the
solenoid.

B.

Remove the plunger tube from the valve base using the spanner wrench specified by the valve
manufacture. The valve seat and seat disc are now exposed for cleaning.

4.

Remove the injection orifice and tube assembly from the outlet port of the valve. Clean both
valve parts using forced air.
