HIGH TEMPERATURE SAFETY

QUICK USE GUIDE

This control provides protection against the possibility of a high temperature runaway in the
event of primary control instrument failure or any similar circumstance that would cause the
chamber temperature to be driven beyond the set point. The failsafe is adjustable to provide
protection within the maximum temperature design limit of the chamber.

The following are the recommended procedures for setting the failsafe:

STEP 1

Set the digital Failsafe control to a setting above the desire test temperature.

• Press SET.  SP text will appear on the display.
• Press SET again.  The real value is shown on the display.
• The value can be modified with the UP and DOWN arrows.
• Press SET to enter any new values.
• Press SET and DOWN at the same time to quit programming or wait one
   minute and the display will automatically exit programming mode.

STEP 2

Close the door and turn the Power (Circulation) and Heat switches ON.

STEP 3

Set the primary controller temperature set point at the desired test temperature.

STEP 4

Allow the chamber to reach the set point and then wait 15 minutes for the system
to stabilize itself at that temperature.

STEP 5

Reset the digital Failsafe control at the temperature above the set point
temperature where you want the chimer to go into “safety mode.”

WARNING!!!

The high temperature failsafe shuts off the heating circuit only.  If your product is a heat
producing (live) load, the chamber temperature can rise even though the failsafe circuit is
activated.  To prevent over-temperature of your product, your load must be shut off by other
means in the event of an over-temperature condition.

NOTE:  Customers should provide their own separate safety for their product, especially if
product is operating and introducing live load (heat) into chamber.
