9.3.2.3. Time Div and recording
As mentioned previously, the Time Division setting does not allow you to enter different step
values in the middle of a sequence while recording. But you can use it to alter the relative
tempo while recording.
♪
: If you are recording a difficult passage you may want to use a different Time Division setting
while recording in real time (i.e., use 1/4 instead of 1/8).
9.3.3. What does it record?
9.3.3.1. Per step
The MiniBrute 2 sequencer will record certain types of data for each sequence step:
• The note played from the keyboard
• The velocity of the note (unless you tell it not to with the
• Rests entered by pressing the Tap / Rest button or holding it for one or more
steps
• If a key is held during real-time recording for two or more steps a tied note will
be recorded.
9.3.3.2. Per Sequence
The Swing percentage is stored with each sequence. However, if the Swing value is changed
while the sequence is playing, it is important to remember to press the Stop button before
switching to another sequence or to the Arpeggiator. Otherwise the change in the Swing
value will not be remembered.
♪
: Be sure to press the Stop button if you changed the Swing value for the current sequence while it
was running. This will allow MiniBrute 2 to store the new Swing percentage value with the sequence.
9.3.4. What it does not record
Here are the types of data not captured by the MiniBrute 2 sequencer:
• Differences in the duration of each note: each one will be played back at the gate
time that was set for the sequence. However, a note will be tied into the next step
if you hold it down long enough.
• Time division changes
• Controller data
• Data that arrives via MIDI or USB. However, incoming note data can be used to
transpose a sequence, and the MiniBrute 2 sequencer and arpeggiator can be
slaved to incoming clock data.
♪
: The Gate time setting and Swing amount are stored individually per sequence.
