Setting up the Communication Interface

Setting up the RS-232 Interface

The RS-232 port is used to transfer information between the XY autosampler 
and a computer. 

RS 232 Interface of your PC

Prior to controlling the XY autosampler by the UV-visible ChemStation 
software, you have to update the registry file of your operating system.

The following installation procedure describes how you update your registry 
file for a WIN NT 4.0 or WIN 95 operating system:

Start your PC, which must have either WIN NT 4.0 or WIN 95 operating system 
loaded.

Start 

Windows Explorer

 of your operating system and go to the 

C:\HPCHEM\UVEXE directory.

Under C:\HPCHEM\UVEXE double-click on the appropriate *.reg file to 
update the registry file of your operating system. How you identify the 
appropriate *.reg file is shown in Table 2.

Reboot you PC.

For the physical location of the sampler’s RS-232 port, refer to Figure 15 on 
page 31.
