GENERAL INFORMATION
NOTE: Do not adjust the han-
dlebar to a position that allows
the brake fluid to be below the
low mark on either side of the
brake fluid reservoir.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
The exhaust system is designed to
reduce noise and to improve the total
performance of the engine. If any
e x h a u s t s y s t e m c o m p o n e n t i s
removed from the engine and the
engine is run, severe engine damage
will result.
AIR-INTAKE SILENCER
Used in conjunction with the fuel
intake system is a specially designed
air-intake silencer. The purpose of
the silencer is to quiet the intake of
fresh air. Since the fuel intake sys-
tem is calibrated with the air-intake
silencer in place, the engine must
never be run with the silencer
removed. Performance will not be
improved if the air-intake silencer is
removed. In contrast, severe engine
damage will occur.
COOLING SYSTEM
The cooling system should be
inspected daily for leakage and dam-
age. Also, the coolant level should
be checked daily. If leakage or dam-
age is detected, take the snowmobile
to an authorized Arctic Cat Snow-
mobile dealer for service.
When filling the cooling system, use
a coolant/water mixture which will
satisfy the coldest anticipated
weather conditions of your area in
accordance with the coolant manu-
facturer's recommendations. While
the cooling system is being filled, air
pockets may develop; therefore, run
the engine for five to ten minutes
after the initial fill, shut the engine
off, and then fill the cooling system
to approximately 51 mm (2 in.)
below the filler neck.
NOTE: Use a good quality, gly-
col based, automotive type anti-
freeze.
DRIVE CLUTCH AND DRIVEN
PULLEY
The drive clutch and driven pulley
do not require lubrication; there-
fore, no special maintenance is
required by the snowmobile owner.
However, the drive clutch and
driven pulley should be disassem-
bled, cleaned, and inspected by an
authorized Arctic Cat Snowmobile
dealer after every 800 miles of oper-
ation or at the end of the snowmobil-
ing season whichever occurs first.
! WARNING
Tighten lock nuts according to
specifications to prevent unex-
pected “movement” of the han-
dlebar during operation over
rough terrain and DO NOT posi-
tion handlebar so steering (max-
i m u m r i g h t / l e f t t u r n i n g
capabilities) or throttle and
brake controls are affected.
! CAUTION
The snowmobile is not designed
to be operated in dusty condi-
tions. Operating the snowmo-
bile in dusty conditions will
result in severe engine damage.
! CAUTION
After operating the snowmobile
for the initial 5-10 minutes, stop
the engine, allow the engine to
cool down, and check the cool-
ant level. Add coolant as neces-
sary.
