The input signal filter (see the image below) calculates the average of received signals according to the
set time constant. This is why rapid changes and disturbances (such as fast spikes) are smothered.
The Nyquist rate states that the filter time constant must be at least double the period time of the
disturbance process signal. For example, the value for the filter time constant is 2 seconds for a 1
second period time of a disturbance oscillation.
