3.5 Data Buffering

To ensure an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for the real-time clock and
the memory, a rechargeable lithium battery (3 V) is installed; this ensures that,
in the event of the mains supply being interrupted, the date and time-of-day
and all stored values over several years are saved.
