Chapter 7: Managing the Switch
82
Local Management
You can manage the AT-DC2552XS / L3 switch locally through the
Console port (USB connector) on the front panel of the switch. This is
called local management or out-of-band management because the
management sessions are not connected over your Ethernet network. The
requirements for local management are listed here:
A terminal or computer with a VT100 or equivalent terminal
emulator program
The management cable included with the switch
This management method uses the command line interface, which gives
you access to all of the features and parameters of the switch. Refer to the
AT-DC2552XS / L3 Management Software Command Line Interface

Connecting the
Console Port
This procedure requires a terminal or a terminal emulator program and the
management cable that comes with the switch. To start a local
management session on the switch, perform the following procedure:
1. Connect the USB connector on the management cable to the Console
(USB) port on the front panel of the switch. See Figure 43.
Figure 43. Connecting the Management Cable to the Console Port
2. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
PC with a terminal emulator program.
3. Configure the terminal or terminal emulator program as follows:
Baud rate: 9600 bps (The baud rate of the Console Port is
adjustable from 1200 to 115200 bps. The default is 9600 bps.)
